  • Adaptive somatic rituals: grounding, calming, integrating
  • Maladaptive rituals: compulsive, rigid, anxiety-driven (in OCD)

The difference is:
 Is the ritual increasing flexibility and regulation, or reinforcing fear and compulsion?

  • Place hand on chest
  • Take 5 slow breaths
  • Feel the body settle
